Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 depending on experience plus bonus and pension

We’re looking for a hard-working and ambitious software engineer to fill this new role to help keep our market leading software at the forefront of the transportation industry. Our recently developed and highly performant software features rich custom graphics, an intuitive interface and advanced algorithms for compliance checking and optimisation. We are continually developing our planning and control software, using agile methodologies and through close working with our customers to refine and develop it.
Your level of experience will determine the autonomy and degree of opportunity you would have when you first join us. We are looking for someone to be flexible across the following:
- Developing high-quality, easy-to-use software.
- Providing back-end IT server support.
- Developing automated tests for our specialised software.
- Working with customer support to investigate technical issues.
We have a wealth of experience within the company; highly knowledgeable software developers and those with deep industry expertise. We focus on being supportive and fun and the sort of company where everyone is proud to work.
- A solid degree in computing, physics, maths, engineering or similar
- Programming/software development skills and experience of one or more of the following: Delphi, C#, C++, Java.
- Comfortable working with and finding solutions to complex problems.
- Attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Delphi including recent language features (e.g. generics & anonymous methods)
- C# and WPF
- IBM MQ
- Active Directory
- Rail industry experience
- Working using agile development methodologies
- Creating automated tests
- UI standards and graphical interface design;
- Database systems (SQLite, SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL)
- Simulation and modelling
